I would grade this coin as a good fine as you can see and read most of the details. The coin has wear commensurate with its age and circulated status, is nicely toned in rather dark tone and has nice eye appeal. Other than for the natural wear and several dings to the rim, which can be seen in the photos, this coin is problem free with only a few small scratches on both sides as well as the bumps to the rim. Please see photo for additional condition information.

    Details
    Description:
A nice fine 1897 Mexican Copper Cent. This coin has the mint mark "Mo". It has the words "Republica Mexicana" and the Mexican Arms consisting of a spread winged eagle with a serpent in its beak on the obverse. The reverse is marked "UN CENTAVO; 1897; Mo" within a wreath. I would grade this cent as a fine. The coin itself is better than the photos show with very readable details on both sides. The coin has dark toning and has nice eye appeal. The words on both obverse and reveres are well defined with normal wear to be expected from a circulated coin that is 116 years old. The date is very well defined and has some wear. As you can see from the scan, the details on both the obverse and the reverse are all there and well defined with wear commensurate with its circulated state. Early Mexican coins such as this are gradually getting more difficult to find. Please the see photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
    Date:
    1897
    Mint:
Mint Mark Mo for Mexico City.
    Size and weight:
Copper coin weighs 7.9 gm (note Krause Catalog of World Coins indicates a weight of 7.4 gm - we are not certain how to explain the discrepancy) and is ~26 mm in diameter.
    References:
    It is KM #391.6.
